Moulana Banglori Majalis 8th Moharram
This is an effort to translate into English majalis recited at the jic center in Kissimmee while the majalis is being recited in Urdu. Every effort is made to keep the translation accurate. Please post any errors to the yahoo group jicmajalis.
The Prophet was chosen from among the residents ---. Until a Muslim accepts the prophet he is not considered a Muslim. There are two views regarding. One is that he was not a prophet until age 40 and that he had a personal life and a life as a prophet. This is contradicted by the ayat of the quran that states for you the rasool is an example. This does not restrict him to being a rasool while in the masjid for instance. Thus as long as the rasool is a rasool he is an example.
Allah did not make a person who is a sinner an Imam. You might make a person who is a sinner a president but would not pray behind him in jamaat namaaz. Allah in a similar fashion takes responsibility for the prophet and the imams. He states that these people do not forget and are perfect. As long as a person thinks that a prophet can make mistakes the a person is always in doubt as to that which he is stating is right or wrong. Therefore our prophet cannot make any mistakes otherwise how can he lead to the right path.
The Prophet Nooh lived for 2500 years and managed to make 80 Muslims. The people of Nooh made the ark but did not board the boat. They just wanted to collect the gold in return for making the boat. Our Prophet has stated that his ahle bait are like the ship of nooh and only a few will seek salvation from them. One should remember that whosoever boards the ship can only go wherever the boat goes.
The gifts that Allah gave us include four things. Today I want to discuss ghadab. This is an emotion that controls man's mind and misleads him. Our Prophet has stated that ghadab is the key to every evil. As long as man loses control over himself then he sins. The moderation of this is to be angry just enough to accomplish your purpose. If you achieve this balance point then you have reached shujat. If you are less that this then you are a coward. Shariat allows you to tae revenge in proportion to the wrong that has been done to you. Quran states that by seeking retribution you give life. This is because if you seek revenge or retribution for a murder by punishing only a murderer instead of seeking revenge on the entire tribe. The Quran states that forgiving is better than seeking retribution. The Quran recommends forgiveness as a superior thing. Real forgiveness is its true sense is that you are in the position of seeking revenge and then you forgive him is true forgiveness. If you are unable to seek revenge then there is no forgiveness as you cannot seek retribution anyway. If you forgive then the person who can do the same to you i.e. Allah will also forgive you.
Sabr or patience is shujat or bravery. Imam Ali has stated that patience for a moment is bravery. You must have seen some competition when a weak person is fighting a stronger person and yet he wins. This is because victory is through patience and not through bodily strength. It is sabr or patience that brings you to the mussalah to do salat and to the center to listen to lectures. Allah states that he is with the patient ones. If you stop before you commit sin then you are patient. The greater the sin you resist the greater your reward. If person does not drink in Pakistan the reward is not as great but if he stops in America then this has a greater reward. If you do not involve yourself in the casino the lotto and the lottery then this is patience. I would like to state that I am very proud of our youth here as they resist temptation and do not fall into sin.
Imam Jaffer has stated that in the grave you have prayer roza khums and zakaat and patience. Before the angels come to you on the day of judgment then patience tells the other four things that stand fast and protect this person and if you fail then patience will come to the rescue. The Prophet has stated that I am salaat and Ali is roza.
The person who is patient sometimes seems to be a coward although he is not cowardly but patient. For example Imam Ali was patient after the death of the prophet and he was doing hilm at this time. A position higher than this is viqar. The Quran states that the slave of Allah are those who walk on the earth and when the ignorant ask them they state salaam and leave. Allah states that he has placed sakna on the hearts of men. If you tell them of a difficulty and his personality does not change this is called viqar. Haibat or panic is a result of Viqar. For instance if you state that this person is on the battlefield then everyone else panics. For example if Ayatollah Seestani come s to the majalis then all are panic struck and cannot speak. Imam Ali had such haibat that Marhab challenged him and stated that Haider will kill me. Imam Ali replied that my mother has named me Haider. Above this level is confidence. This means that a person does not feel superior or inferior. Superiority complex is pride. Allah has stated that if you are proud then remember that there is someone bigger than you. Therefore in every namaaz you state Allah is Akber (big). Allah hates pride. Iblis had pride alone and none else.
Iblis had come to Prophet Adam. Iblis has met most prophets. He came to our prophet also. Have you ever met him? He boarded the ship of Nooh. Prophet Nooh told him you are forbidden go away. Nooh was told by Iblis that I am permitted everywhere. He first thanked Nooh for letting him go on vacation. He stated that which I could not do for a long time you have done by sending so many people to hell by your prayer for the misled souls of your people. Iblis was advising Nooh. A wahi asked Nooh to listen to him. He told Nooh never be proud and be jealous. Due to pride I left heaven. Due to jealousy the son of Adam killed the other son. Allah asked Iblis what is stopping you from doing sajdah? Are you among the superior people that you are not doing sajdah. Allah is thus stating that before Adam was created there were individuals who were superior to Adam and they did not do sajdah to Adam. He replied I am of fire and he is of the earth I cannot do sajdah to him.
Adam was taught the names of the superior beings Mohammed, Ali, Fatima Hasan and Hussain and if we ask for forgiveness via these people then we are following Allah's command.
Allah states in the Quran that as the momineen have a moula then they are more fearless. They have Allah, Prophet and Imam Ali. In ghadeer e khum the Prophet stated that Ali is your moula. He meant to accept him with your nafs. You must have seen that where a lot of people go back the followers of Imam Ali step forward to the challenge.
Imam Ali is stating to his brother Aqeel that he wants to find a brave household. Oh Ali does bravery run in genes. Yes this does it runs in families. Aqeel told him to go to Bani Saqeef they are brave. Imam Ali obviously knew this. When Malik E Ashtar killed the same number in the enemy as Moula Ali had he came to speak with =him. Imam Ali stated that you killed all that who came before you but I looked at every descendant of any opponent before killing him. Thus Ali asked Aqeel this so that this may be written in books.
Imam Ali married Fatima E Kalabia and took he home to Bibi Fatima's house. Bibi Fatima E Kalabia or Ummol Banin stated that she is coming to the bibi's house as a slave. She had four sons with Imam Ali.
When Hazrat Abbas was born Imam Hussain picked him up and took him to Imam Ali. He kissed the babies arms and shoulders over and over. This is because he knew that these are going to be cut in karbala.
Imam Ali told Abbas to say one he did. He ten asked him to say two and he did not stating that oh baaba if I say one how can I say two. One day ImamHussain asked his slave Khamber for water and Abbas ran forward and brought water to his elder brother and Imam Ali cried for he knew what was to come in Karbala.
In the battle of siffin Imam Hussain and Abbas conquered the furat and brought water. In karbala Abbas was reminded by Zuahir do you remember what your baba said you were created for? He stated wait for the day I do battle tomorrow.
Imam Hussian saw Abbas sharpen his sword on the day before battle and Hussain took the sword and broke it in two. Abbas helped Imam Hussain to pick up the dead bodies of the martyrs all day long. When only Ali Akbe r and Ali Asghar remained he asked permission to go into battle. Imam Hussain gacve him permission to go to the river for water but not to do battle ---.
